Back to school is a busy time of year for both parents and children alike. Between ensuring school supplies are in order to acclimating to new teachers and classes, families have a lot on their plate during the fall season.
So why is drama school an important addition to your child’s schedule?
Here at the Seattle Children’s Theatre, we believe that making drama an intentional addition to a child’s education can make a significant impact on their social and emotional growth. Through enhancing communication skills, improving memory, and building self-confidence, drama is a great way to make your child more in tune with themselves and the world around them.
In addition to summer and break camps, SCT offers a large variety of drama classes year round. This school year, we are offering camps and classes in a variety of subjects ranging from Story Drama to Acting 1 to our newest class, Theatre for Social Change, all designed to elevate a whole child education.
“SCT’s Drama School is a place for students to ignite their passion for theatre and cultivate their creative hearts and minds” says SCT’s Director of Education, Johamy Morales. “We empower students to experiment with ways their bodies, voices, and imaginations can elevate storytelling, contribute to an inclusive and safe artistic environment, engage in critical thinking and challenging conversations, and, of course, play”.
This school year, embolden your child’s confidence, communication, and community through drama. “This is a community of creative thinkers, bold risk takers, and playful adventurers” says Johamy Morales. We hope you join us!
